Donovan Mitchell scored 30 points, while Tygerome scored 16 of 28 points in the fourth quarter, and the Cleveland Cavaliers beat the Miami Heat 121-100 on Sunday night, defeating Game 1 of the Eastern Conference’s first round playoff series.
This tied Michael Jordan, who had two streaks in seven games, in the seven straight series, where Mitchell scored at least 30 points in Game 1.
Bam Adebayo scored 24 points and Tyler Herro added 21 points. They are the first 10 seeds to advance to the playoffs from the play-in tournament.
Darius Garland added 27 to the Cavaliers, who will host Game 2 on Wednesday night. Garland and Jerome each had five three-pointers in Cleveland, with the Cavaliers 18/43 over the Ark.
Cleveland took a 16-point lead midway through the second quarter, but Miami steadily cut back, making it 98-90 with 7:26 in fourth. Cleveland scored the reach with a 13-4 run, including 10 straight points by Jerome, who was in their first playoff game.
Jerome was six-sevenths off the field and attempted all three three-point attempts in the fourth quarter.
