Tyler Glasnow is optimistic about his recovery from a shoulder injury that has been watching him from late April. He is one of the five Los Angeles Dodgers starting pitchers on the injured list.
There is no timetable for his return yet. The 31-year-old right-hander was injured against Pittsburgh on April 27th and was recently moved to Illinois for 60 days. “My shoulders are absolutely fine,” he said Tuesday.
Glasnow downplayed the common physical pain that manager Dave Roberts mentioned on Monday. He said the tensions were regained after the bullpen session prompted a preventive decision to let him rest for several days.
“We’re both on the same wavelength,” he said of himself and his team.
His shoulders will feel better, he said, and he is scheduled to throw a bullpen session later this week. He made a catch on the outfield on Tuesday.
“I’ll be back as quickly as possible in a healthy way to help the team be my goal in the playoffs,” he said.
Last season, Glasnow did not pitch in the postseason due to right elbow tendonitis. He signed $135.5 million for a five-year contract for the 2024 season.
Also on Tuesday, the Dodgers signed right-handed Jose Urena, who was designated for missions by Toronto last weekend.
He was 0-0 with a 3.65 ERA in six Blue Jays appearances. He began the season with the New York Mets and gave up five runs in three innings of his lonely appearance.
Urenya, 33, spent 11 years in majors with Miami, Detroit, Milwaukee, Colorado, Texas Chicago White Sox, Mets and Blue Jays. He’s 44-77 with an ERA of 4.78 in 239 games.
The Dodgers also chose the right-handed pitcher from Oprice’s Will Klein to Triple A Oklahoma City, and assigned catcher Chucky Robinson.
