In a four-part Instagram post, Brown said the 2018 death of Diddy’s on-again, off-again girlfriend Kim Porter was a “tragic murder,” but he appeared to be pulling no punches. Brown posted a statement on his social media accounts saying, “Kimberly being taken away from us accomplished what Mrs. Kathy Ventura did by lighting the bonfire that brought us here today. It is said that this was because she was set on a course to do so.” In late 2023, Ventura and Combs reached a settlement agreement in a civil lawsuit brought by the entertainer’s ex-girlfriend, a singer and model, who accused him of sexually assaulting her and controlling every aspect of her life.
Ventura’s lawsuit against Diddy does not detail the events surrounding Kim Porter’s death or the alleged murder. But that opened the floodgates, leading to a wave of additional civil lawsuits against Combs and prosecutors filing multiple federal criminal charges against him. Combs remains in custody without bail after his lawyers unsuccessfully appealed to a judge.
