Apple’s augmented reality glasses may be dead (or at least pending), but it appears that the company is still working on a different kind of smart glasses.
Newest Powers of Markgerman in the Newsletter Bloomberg (via) 9to5mac) Apple reports that it continues to work on a pair of smart glasses. Another Bloomberg Report Apple’s AR glasses indicate that it’s not happening anymore. According to Garman, the glasses he is currently working on are similar to Meta’s Ray-Ban collaboration.

Garman said they are driven by Apple Intelligence and “can analyze the surrounding environment and provide information to the wearer,” but it is still unknown what they can do. The meta version of this concept focuses primarily on influencers, allowing live streaming of glasses-based photos and Instagram, but Apple is not entirely committed to allowing glasses-based photos for privacy reasons.
Anyway, it will probably take at least a few years to see all the fruits of this labour. Maybe your dream of smart glasses will continue to live.
