Apple begins pulling iPhone SE, 14, and 14 Plus from EU

From December 28th, all new mobile phones sold in the European Union must have USB-C. And with about a week left until that deadline, Apple has begun removing the iPhone SE, iPhone 14, and iPhone 14 Plus (the last models to feature Apple’s own Lightning port) from its online store in Switzerland.

This deletion was first discovered by mcroomersbased on a report from the French publication earlier this month i generation. The Verge We have since confirmed that the Swiss online Apple Store will display the configuration of the iPhone SE, iPhone 14, and iPhone 14 Plus as “Currently Unavailable” when you try to add them to your cart. However, other online Apple Stores in EU countries such as France and Spain still have devices in stock.

Given the December 28 deadline, other Apple stores in the EU will likely follow suit soon. However, it’s unclear why Apple decided to pull inventory out of Switzerland a week early, or if it would do the same in other countries. Apple did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

EU regulations are also the reason Apple finally switched to USB-C with the iPhone 15 in 2023. As for the iPhone SE, a fourth-generation model with USB-C and other upgrades like an OLED display is rumored for early 2025.
