As an entry-level chip for the M4 family of Apple Silicon (including the M4 Pro and M4 Max), the M4 features a 10-core CPU and a maximum of 10-core GPU. Apple claims that the performance of this CPU is up to twice as fast as the 2020 M1 version. All models start with 16 GB of RAM and have the option to upgrade to 32 GB. (August its predecessor doubled the memory of its base model in October.) Storage starts at 256 GB and can be upgraded to 2 terabytes at an additional cost.
The M4 is strong enough to support two external displays like the M3 version, but there’s no longer a need to keep the laptop lid closed. Previous versions of the MacBook Air allow you to push so many pixels at once, and you have to leave your computer closed to use multiple screens. If you open it and wake up the screen, one of the external displays will go dark. Now, if you are counting on your MacBook Air, you will technically have three screens at your disposal.
The M4 also provides access to Apple Intelligence. Available on MacOS 15.1 and later, it includes a suite of artificial intelligence features such as smart reply messages, email summary, Apple photo cleanup, creation tools, smart replies such as Genmoji, Image Playground, and more.
The cost of the MacBook Air was reduced to the price originally sold before Apple increased with the launch of the M2 model. Base 13 inch MacBook Air Currently starting at $999 15 inch versionMeanwhile, it starts at $1,199. That’s $100 less than its predecessor.
The shock of the studio
Within Apple’s desktop lineup, Mac Studio has always been the ideal desktop for creative professionals who need more power than what the iMac and Mac Mini offers, but don’t want to drop a crazy amount of money on the Mac Pro. The latest Mac Studio is updated with a new chipset and can further increase the power along with several internal upgrades.
Now you can choose between the M4 Max or the all-new M3 Ultra Chip. The M4 Max is equipped with a maximum of 16 core CPUs and a maximum of 40 core GPUs. Apple claims it’s up to 3.5 times faster than Mac Studio with M1 Max and more than six times faster than a 27-inch iMac with an Intel chip. The fast chip also unlocks additional graphics features such as ray tracing, mesh shading, and dynamic caching for graphics-intensive tasks. It comes with 36 GB of unified memory with up to 128 GB of support.
Meanwhile, the new M3 Ultra is the most powerful in the M series lineup. A CPU, consisting of two M3 max chips, can host up to 32 cores (including 24 performance cores), while the GPU can configure up to 80 cores. Apple claims that the chip design is 2.5 times faster than the M1 Ultra. Like the M4 Max, it also offers Graphic Pro mesh shading, dynamic caching, and ray tracing. It gets 96 GB of unified memory with the option to upgrade to 512 GB, but you can increase your SSD storage to a whopping 16 TB.
Apple owned the same chassis this time. There are two USB-C ports and an SD card slot on the front, and four Thunderbolt ports, an HDMI port on the back, two USB-A ports, a 10 Gigabit Ethernet port, a headphone jack, a power outlet, and built-in speakers. The only change is that Apple upgraded its USB-C to Thunderbolt 5 to speed up data transfer speeds.
Mac Studio starts at $1,999 for the base model m4 max. Base model With M3 Ultra It starts at $3,999.
