My body refuses to fall asleep on the plane, but not because there are no attempts. I woke up before the flight, booked my red eyes, pop melatonin, ordered a few glasses of red wine from the drink cart, but I still sit in the economy seat.
I’m busy with entertainment in the flight. i haven’t Live and Dogging Flightand that little seatback screen keeps me sane at 30,000 feet. If you’re not locked up to last year’s Oscar nominee or the strange HBO documentary For a few hours I start thinking a little hard about the Boeing 737 Max safety record trapped inside. (It’s a lot of fun to travel together.)
Knowing this, my very wonderful and thoughtful husband gave me a 12 Southern Airlines professional for Christmas last year. This Cult Falkley gadget is a $49.99 Bluetooth adapter that lets you watch movies in flight with my comfortable Bose headphones. It’s not an attractive device – it’s a dongle with an auxiliary cable – but this humble device takes time from the flight. It’s truly a miracle.
This spring I used the Airfly Pro for the first time on my round-trip flight between Chicago and London, and I’ll never fly again. Better yet, it’s for sale.
Fly like a pro
Wireless headphones and earphones are much more popular than modern wired models, but the aviation industry has not adjusted accordingly. (United and Delta added Bluetooth compatible screen In Some Of their planes, I personally haven’t found it yet. ) So, to watch movies and shows on that seatback screen, you’ll need to connect wired earphones with the old-fashioned 3.5mm audio jack.
Some airlines hand out free cheap wired buds for long-haul flights, but they sound awful and don’t lick the cancellation of noise. Airfly Pro exists to fill the technology gap for a better in-flight entertainment experience.

The audio on the Airfly Pro sounded good to me and I had no connection issues. We noticed that the announcements in flight were one second behind the plane’s PA system, but the sound and dialogue of the film are always perfectly lined up.
The Twelve South has an Airfly Pro rated with a 25-hour battery life, but that seemed accurate. I went on an 8-hour flight from Chicago to London. Over that for a few hours (as I had forgotten to turn it off) and went most of the way through my 9 hour return flight. When he finally died, a 10-minute charge gave him enough battery for at least 30 minutes before landing.

The biggest drawback of the Airfly Pro? The fact that it cannot be used while charging, and that it is a bit expensive for a Bluetooth transmitter. That said, it works like a charm and feels like a future purchase. Because the plane probably doesn’t remove the 3.5mm audio jack anytime soon.

I have seen airlines for sale at airports before, but my pro model is easy to sell, so I recommend hooking it before firing on my next trip. At the time of writing, Amazon was selling it. You can also find them as part of some Bose QuietComfort Ultra headphones and earphone bundles.
