Four-time NFL MVP quarterback Aaron Rodgers joined the Pittsburgh Steelers on a one-year contract, according to a US report.
Rogers’ future has been airing ever since it split with the New York Jets at the end of last season.
However, Rodgers, who played 18 seasons with the Green Bay Packers and won the Super Bowl in 2011, has agreed to a one-year deal with the Steelers, according to the NFL website.
The Steelers opened the 2025 season against Rodgers’ former team on September 7th with the New York Jets, and were the NFL teams that needed quarterbacks the most.
Rodgers will start in opposition to Pittsburgh’s one-week starter, Justin Fields, the other side of Pittsburgh’s one-week starter last season.
Before Rogers’ long-term agreement, Mason Rudolph was estimated to be the Steelers starter. Rudolf returned to the Steelers after a season with the Tennessee Titans.
Pittsburgh has moved from Russell Wilson. Russell Wilson is expected to replace the Fields 7 game with the 2024 regular season and start next season in New York as a member of the Giants.
Rodgers will come to Pittsburgh after two disappointing seasons with the Jets. He suffered a season-ending defeated Achilles on his fourth play of the 2023 season, and on his first play against Gang Green, the Jets went 5-12 behind Rodgers in 2024, cleaning up the house in the franchise.
The 10-time Pro Bowler, who won the Super Bowl with the Green Bay Packers in 2011, was linked to Green Bay’s division rival, Minnesota Vikings.
