Did you know that Chris Pine’s father, actor Robert Pine, had a small role on “The Office” as the father of John Krasinski’s character, Jim Halpert? You probably didn’t know, but in a recent podcast, stars Jenna Fischer and Angela Kinsey spoke about their father Pine’s time on set.
“Office Lady” Episode 109 — a recap podcast of the hit NBC mockumentary sitcom — Fisher and Kinsey worked on the first half of “Niagara” in season six, which centers on the wedding of Jim and Pam (Fisher). “That’s where we meet Jim’s parents for the first time,” Fisher says, talking about the wedding reception scene, “and we have Betsy Halpert, played by Perry Smith, and Gerald Halpert, played by Robert Pine, who is actor Chris Pine’s father.”
“Everybody was super excited,” Kinsey said, and Fisher agreed. “We were a little excited, too.” As Kinsey put it, the proximity to the “Star Trek” star was what excited some. “First of all, he was such a lovely guy and so nice to everybody,” she recalled. “But then a couple of people were excited that Chris Pine’s dad was there.” And yet, as Fisher pointed out, the older Pine, who once starred in “CHiPs,” was also cute Famous Quote: “Robert Pine seems like an incredibly successful actor in his own right, but that’s true.”
What is an “Office Lady”? I didn’t I should point out that this isn’t the only Greg Daniels show to feature Robert Pine in a bit role – so where else could he appear?
Robert Pine later had a (slightly) larger role in another Greg Daniels show.
In the fourth season of Parks and Recreation, originally conceived as a spinoff of The Office by Greg Daniels and Michael Schur, Deputy Parks Department Director Leslie Knope gets a rather strange request from a local guy named Herb, played by Robert Pine. Herb, the leader of the town’s cult, the Reasonabilists, wants to book one of Pawnee’s parks for a party celebrating the end of the world, which he claims will happen on a specific date. (As Leslie explains to the camera, the cult revolves around “beings” called “Zopes,” who have been operating in the small town for years, entirely out of pocket, and everyone outside the cult calls them “Zopees.” And after it turns out Herb was wrong about the end of the world, he shows up to book the park in the final minutes of the episode, Genuine The end of the world.
While the episode primarily revolves around Leslie’s interest in her boss, Ben Wyatt (Adam Scott), and the “end of the world” party that Tom Haverford (Aziz Ansari) and Jean-Ralphio Saperstein (Ben Schwartz) are throwing, featuring a drumline and a live tiger, Pines’ Herb also features quite a bit in the episode… and he Really interestingThat’s not surprising, as Pine is a veteran of TV comedy and has had quite the resume.
Robert Pine and his son, Chris Pine, have both had pretty accomplished careers.
Both Robert and Chris Pine are very successful, but one could argue that Chris has a long way to go before he can match his famous father’s level of success. From 1977 to 1983, Robert played Sergeant Joseph Gettler on the detective drama series CHiPs alongside Larry Wilcox and Erik Estrada (and his real-life wife, Chris’ mother Gwynne Gilford, played Gettler’s wife on the series), but he’s also appeared in a huge number of TV shows. Throughout his career, Robert has appeared in Gunsmoke, Mod Squad, Charlie’s Angels, The Love Boat, Knight Rider, Dallas, Dynasty, LA Law, Chicago Hope, The West Wing, Six Feet Under, 24, Criminal Minds, The Mentalist, and many more. a bit.
Robert’s son Chris is no slouch, getting his start in romantic comedies like Just My Luck and The Princess Diaries: Before that, he’d go on to show off a wide range of acting chops in everything from Jack Ryan (where he played the lead role) to the acclaimed Western Hell or High Water to the recent fantasy comedy Dungeons & Dragons Supremacy. Also He plays James T. Kirk in the modern Star Trek films and has also appeared in both Wonder Woman movies.
Talent clearly runs in the Pine family, but you might not have known that father and son had such a direct connection to “The Office.” Take another look at Robert Pine’s brief cameo. and Peacock has been tapped to become the channel that will exclusively broadcast two popular shows, Parks and Recreation.
