The WNBA announced its regular season schedule for the 2023 season on Wednesday, announcing that the season will run from May 19 to September 10, with a record 40 games for each team.

Four games will be played on Friday, the opening day of the World Championship. The Washington Mystics will play the New York Liberty, the Connecticut Sun will play the Indiana Fever on the road, the Minnesota Lynx will take on the Chicago Sky, and the Phoenix Mercury will play in Los Angeles. Defending champion Las Vegas will begin its title defense on Saturday, May 20th, away against the Seattle Storm. The Atlanta Dream and Dallas also play in Dallas. Saturday ends with Connecticut hosting Washington, Indiana on the road to play New York and the Sky take on the Mercury in Phoenix.
The W will hold the 19th All-Star Game on July 15th at a venue to be determined. The Commissioner’s Cup will be held from May 19th to July 12th, with the championship game being played on August 15th. The WNBA’s 40 regular season games will be four more than in 2022 and eight more than in 2021. The league plans to announce its television and streaming schedule at a later date.
The blockbuster 2023 free agency period will begin on January 21, when free agents can begin negotiations. These free agents can sign contracts as early as February 1st. The Sun, Wings, Fever, Mystics and Sparks all have head coaching vacancies filling free agents. The Suns hired Stephanie White, the Wings hired Latricia Trammell, the Fever hired Christy Sides, the Mystics hired Eric Thibault and the Sparks hired Kurt Miller.
The 2023 WNBA Draft is scheduled for April 10, 2023. The Fever holds the No. 1 overall pick.
