What’s new with Claude 4? And why it’s becoming my favorite AI tool

7 Min Read

ChatGpt is the most well-known AI chat service, but it doesn’t automatically become the best. Google Gemini is consistently topping leaderboards, so don’t count Claude.

If you’re new to Claude, it’s a family of large models created by humanity, AI companies. And Claude got a big upgrade in just the way Claude 4the latest AI model for humanity. Technically, the Claude 4 is two models. Claude Opus 4 and Claude Sonnet 4.

These new models bring a lot to the table when it comes to AI capabilities. This includes inference and coding that makes what ChatGpt-Maker Openai creates into any rival. Find out what’s new in Claude 4 and all the reasons why you might consider using Claude instead of ChatGpt.

Claude Opus 4 vs Claude Sonnet 4

Claude 4 is not actually a big language model – it is family A big language model. Currently, the family has two models. I used both ClaudeOpus4 and Claude Sonnet 4. Eagle-Eyed AI users may be wondering if I have the naming right, but in fact, humanity has switched from “Claude 3.7 Sonnet” to “Claude Sonnet 4.” I prefer new naming, but of course the naming convention switching is a bit confusing.

So, what is the difference between Claude Sonnet 4 and Claude Opus 4? Simply put, Claude Sonnet 4 is a daily model used to ask basic questions and find information. Meanwhile, Claude Opus 4 is useful for advanced coding.

According to humanity, both Claude 4 models are superior to their predecessors in important ways. First of all, the company says it is 65% less likely to take shortcuts in certain agent workflows that may be susceptible to shortcuts and loopholes. Not only that, Claude Opus 4 has a significant improvement in memory functionality, allowing you to better remember development workflow information. For example, you can create a memory file that references without the need for a larger context window (the amount of basic data that a model can process at once).

There is a trade-off for the more advanced Claude Opus 4. Given the fact that it is a much larger model, it is much more expensive to use, and therefore not available to free users. Even those who pay for a $20/month Claude Pro subscription may encounter restrictions after using the Claude Opus 4. However, those who subscribe to a Max account that costs $100 per month will get a much higher limit.

Why do I like Claude?

There are a few things I really like about Claude, but it’s important to note that there are still many features that Claude and another AI service still don’t get. The biggest thing I love about Claude is that it feels a little more…human.

So everything from the design to the kind of response I get, feels a little more personal and a little more natural. This applies to both Claude Sonnet 4 and Claude Opus 4. There are small touches like small “thinking” icons, and more important differences like the text that generates. Part of this has to do with the fact that each chat can be adjusted with Claude in both preset and custom “styles”. Preset options include “Simple” and “Description”, but you can also create your own style.

Claude vs. competition

Not all AI services offer all the features as AI services continue to improve at a fierce speed. In other words, there are many features that are not available in Claude yet. teeth For example, it is available in ChatGpt.

For example, Claude cannot generate images, and Anthropic is just beginning to deploy voice chat services within Claude. Still in the beta version, Claude’s voice chat doesn’t sound as naturally as the text-based version. These may be table stakes for you – and if you rely on a lot of such types of features, Claude may not be for you, or it may not be the only AI service you need.

But I also get Claude a lot right. For example, Claude has a “deep research” type of feature (simply called research) that allows you to analyze many sources to find information. It also has the “Expanded Thinking” feature. This is essentially a reasoning feature that allows you to get a more accurate answer overall by thinking through the answer longer before responding.

Claude is much better in tasks like research and simple daily use, but its best use case is still coding. To be clear, I’m just a basic coder, but on all accounts, Claude is better than any other service when it comes to coding. Anthropic, the maker of Claude, has created a standalone service called Claude Code, a dedicated coding assistant with Claude Opus 4.

The good news is that you don’t necessarily have to pay to try Claude, but if you don’t, you won’t be able to use its cutting edge features. Instead, just create an account and try it out. That’s what you can do before you pay to get the feel of the service and whether it suits you.
