The U.S. Women’s National Basketball Team got off to a 5-0 start at the FIBA World Cup, outscoring its opponents 536-205.
They reached a new milestone with 145 points, breaking the record for most points in a game against South Korea and the record for most points in a single game by any team at the World Cup. Defeating Bosnia 121-59, the star-studded team snapped America’s 27th consecutive win and broke the country’s previous record.
Team USA has made it through this year’s World Cup competition. Seven of the team’s 11 active players scored in double figures, with Kelsey Plum leading the way with 20 points and seven assists, followed by Chelsea Gray with 16 points and seven assists. Brianna Stewart and Shakira Austin each added 15 points to their team total. Austin made 7-9 field goals in just 13 minutes of play.
The USWNT continues its quest for a trophy against Serbia on Thursday.
