“Trump’s tactics are bad, but Vance’s tactics are even worse. He is one of Ohio’s senators, and they are his voters. How can he put them at risk like this?”
Donald Trump announced Friday morning atop a golf course in Rancho Palos Verdes, California, a town with spectacular views of the Pacific Ocean and a captivating coastline, that if re-elected he would, as promised, begin mass deportations of illegal immigrants in landlocked but resurgent Springfield, Ohio, where Trump and his sleazy beta-male running mate J.D. Vance continue to falsely claim that Haitian immigrants are eating local dogs, cats, and pets in general. (Today Trump added the claim that they’re catching geese in local parks.)
As always, there were problems with Trump’s logic. First, there’s no evidence that anyone is eating pets, according to local officials. Second, the Haitians in Springfield are there legally, with work permits, to support the struggling economy. It’ll be hard to deport them, Donald. Even Ohio’s Republican governor, Mike DeWine, and Republican Springfield Mayor Rob Lew have defended them.
Trump also claimed he would deport Venezuelans from Springfield, but they are not there. There are reportedly some Venezuelans in Aurora, Colorado, and Trump said that would be included in the initial round of mass deportations. He seems confused, as always.
It wasn’t enough that Trump and Vance’s racist lies led to bomb threats and the evacuations of Springfield City Hall and two local elementary schools. Elementary schools? Really? They continue to lie. They revel in the fact that these immigrants are black. Meanwhile, former Democrat Marianne Williamson should be excommunicated from the community of conscience for supporting Trump and Vance’s lie by stating that Haitians are known to practice “voodoo.”
One thing that I find so remarkable and so tragic is that the only known Example of a cat eater It was a mentally ill woman in Canton, Ohio, last July. We don’t have enough mental health care for everyone in this country. But native-born Americans are more likely to commit crimes than immigrants. We’ve all known that for a long time. Trump knows it too. But Trump and Vance essentially traded a kind of blood libel. They are cruel, bloodthirsty people who are out to rob those closest to us (oh, and they also lie about immigrants raping young white women, so it’s not just about pets).
Also, today we learn that the neo-Nazi “Blood Tribe” Pushing false claims about Springfield It seeped into the public sphere and ultimately onto Trump and Vance. These creepy Bloods won.
Current Issues
Leading Ohio Republicans, to their credit, are outraged. DeWine condemned Trump and Vance for lying. “We need help, not hate. We need people who believe the best about our communities.” Mayor Rob Lew told MSNBC on Friday afternoon.“we [Trump and Vance to] “I don’t understand the impact their words are having in Springfield, Ohio,” he said. Asked if he was worried about the possibility of violence, he said, “I’m definitely worried.”
Trump was defeated badly in the debate with Kamala Harris. In his words, he was beaten “like a dog.” (No decent person would beat a dog, but he’s not. This is one of his favorite expressions.) But even worse, Vance’s tactics are worse. He is one of Ohio’s senators, and they are his constituents. How can he put them at risk like this?
But in recent days, he has continued to escalate in the same way as his boss, most recently resurrecting a 30-year-old claim that Haitians are also spreading AIDS. Haiti Times Reports Many families have reported threats and vandalism, forcing them to keep their children from school.
Of course, as Kamala Harris often says, hard times also produce heroes. Two of Springfield’s heroes are Nathan and Daniel Clark, whose 11-year-old son, Aiden, was killed last year in a school bus accident involving Haitian immigrants.
“Using Aiden as a political tool for any political purpose is reprehensible, to say the least,” Clark said. “Moral bankrupt politicians like Bernie Moreno, Chip Roy, J.D. Vance and Donald Trump have uttered my son’s name and exploited his death for political gain.”
“They can spew all the hate they want about illegal immigration, the border crisis and even false claims that fluffy pets are being ravaged and eaten by local residents, but they are not, and have never been, allowed to mention Aiden Clark of Springfield, Ohio. Please stop the hate.”
I wish I could, Nathan. I wish I could. But these people are just awful.
