Tracking Trump’s Cabinet Nominations – The New York Times

President-elect Donald J. Trump is assembling a cast of people to serve in his Cabinet and other key positions during his second term. The Cabinet always consists of at least 16 positions (the vice president and the heads of the 15 executive departments), and the president has discretion to promote other officials, such as the White House chief of staff, to cabinet level. This page will be updated as new announcements are made.

Ratcliffe is a former Texas congressman who served as director of national intelligence during Trump’s first term.

Zeldin, a former congressman from Long Island who ran unsuccessfully for governor in 2022, is an ardent supporter of Trump, who voted against certification of the 2020 election results. Zeldin has voted against clean water bills at least 12 times and clean air bills at least six times during his time in the House, according to the League of Conservation Voters’ scorecard.

Stefanik represents an upstate New York district in the House of Representatives, is a member of the Republican leadership, and has been a vocal supporter of Trump. She emerged as a key ally during Trump’s first impeachment proceedings. She has minimal experience in foreign policy and national security.

Vance is a former Silicon Valley venture capitalist and relative political newcomer. He rose to fame in 2016 after the publication of Hillbilly Elegy, his best-selling memoir about his experiences growing up in Appalachia. He previously criticized Trump as “reprehensible,” but in his successful 2022 Senate run, he embraced Trump’s politics and the lie that the 2020 presidential election was stolen. This earned him support from Trump.

Mr. Wiles is a political tactician who led Mr. Trump’s 2024 presidential campaign and has been involved in Republican campaigns and administrations at both the federal and state levels since the Reagan administration. She is the only campaign manager to survive an entire campaign under Trump and will be the first woman to serve as White House chief of staff.

Mr. Homan served as a top immigration official in Mr. Trump’s first administration and will oversee Mr. Trump’s campaign promise to broadly deport undocumented immigrants and strengthen measures to allow some to remain legally in the country. He has decades of experience in immigration enforcement.

Mr. Lutnick is Chairman and CEO of Cantor Fitzgerald, a financial services company. A longtime registered Democrat, he said the party has turned away from his interests and he is now a Republican. He donated $1 million to Trump’s 2017 inauguration and appeared on an episode of “The Apprentice” while Trump hosted the show. He has no federal experience.

McMahon is a major donor to Trump, a candidate for the U.S. Senate seat in Connecticut, and a former executive of the professional wrestling empire she co-founded with her husband. She served as head of the Small Business Administration in Trump’s first cabinet.
