Are you tired of rising mobile phone prices? If you have four families, you can easily spend $4,000 on four flagship devices. It can happen regularly.

Some families simply can’t afford to pay for the costs of pixels, galaxies, iPhones, and so they need to look at more budget-friendly devices. So, if you could get four phones for nearly $500, wouldn’t you need a long-term or rough contract?
That’s the goal nuu n20 phonecurrently running on Amazon for $125.
Please keep in mind the price range for this phone before continuing. If you’re hoping that the flagship looks and performance is $125, then that’s certainly not a reality, so you’d like to take part in the dreams you have.
That being said, the Nuu N20 works very well, especially when you find out you have a fingerprint scanner and unlocking Face, which is why it’s so cheap. (Please note that I’m coming from the Google Pixel 9 Pro.)

Yes, bare minimum RAM (6GB) for running Android, CPU is 1.6 GHz, OS version (Android 14), but it makes the most of those specifications and performs well enough to become a viable device for some types of users (especially kids).
But how is the N20 standing up? Let’s look into it.
My experience
Firstly, installing Android phones has become very easy recently. Insert a SIM (or connect to Wi-Fi when prompted), add your Google account and complete the setup. Within about two minutes of boxing, I was ready to get my N20 up and test.

The first thing I noticed was the material used on the back of my phone. The frame is zinc alloy, but it feels like cardboard so I’m not 100% sure what was used. It’s not cardboard, but if you’re concerned about its texture, you’ll want to attach the included clear case (regardless of its smart movement).
The N20 (with the case attached) weighs roughly the same as my Pixel 9 Pro (242 grams for the N20 and 239 grams for the pixel). Also, the phone is slightly higher than the Pixel 9 Pro, but it doesn’t feel awkward for your hands.
This rock bottom android phone certainly doesn’t feel the rock bottom.

But what about performance? After all, a $125 smartphone certainly won’t beat a $1,000 phone. That being said, the N20 works pretty well. The animation isn’t as smooth as my Pixel 9 Pro animation, but it’s not as yanki as you might think.
I’ve certainly experienced Android phones in the $300 to $400 range, but that got worse. It helps the N20 ship in very little bloatwear. There is an FM radio app and a NUU help app, but the rest is Stock Android. The Home Screen Launcher is QuickStep, but you can install another launcher from the Google Play Store. I think QuickStep is similar to the Pixel Launcher (which is a good thing).

I found that the YouTube video works well. The sound of my phone is enough (quite small) to hear everything for me. The display is surprisingly clear (even in the sun). The display has a refresh rate of 90Hz, so it’s quite efficient.
One thing to keep in mind with base RAM (6GB) is that you can add an additional 4GB via extended RAM. Once you enable Extended RAM (from within Settings > In Extended RAM), you will need to restart for the changes to take effect.
The extended RAM in my review unit was only passed to 4GB instead of the advertised 6GB.

After adding up to 4GB of extended virtual RAM, I noticed a slight increase in animation speed, but they still had a slight tick (though they were smoother than before the change). Remember, this is nothing more than that Physical Rum.

As far as cameras are concerned, it is serviceable. Photos are enough to capture “what” but not necessarily enough to tell the full story. You won’t win awards or impress your friends with this camera, but it’s easy to take photos and provide a pro mode so you can configure everything from white balance, ISO, shutter speed and more.
The N20 camera isn’t awful, but it can’t compete with the Pixel 9 Pro.

ZDNET purchase advice
In the end I got the impression that the N20 phone was very impressive for its price. This doesn’t make it easy to hand over to your child (make sure you choose your child’s option during setup) or to someone on a tight budget who needs a reliable phone that doesn’t pack Bloatware or 4 tons of stuffing.
nuu n20 phone It’s not near flagship-level devices, but it doesn’t pretend to be one. This is a basic smartphone at a reasonable price.
