After taking a break from pickleball due to knee surgery, it’s good to be back on the court. I started with 15 minute sessions and gradually built up to an hour, but I’ve found that the most important elements of pickleball are a quality racket, adequate arch support in my sneakers, stylish pickleball essentials, and a stylish bag to carry all my pickleball essentials in.
Proper arch support significantly reduces the risk of ankle sprains, increases stability, and promotes optimal foot alignment. Pickleball is very hard on the knees, but switching from tennis was the best decision I’ve made in years. I was on a tennis team and played 4 times a week, and I really wanted to play a similar sport, so I’m so glad I found it.
If you find a sport you are passionate about, pursue it. I take lessons twice a week to build my confidence and success. I am on that path now.
