The Defeat of Andrew Cuomo Would Be a Devastating Loss for Scumbag Centrism

The vote for Zohran Mamdani is a vote for the Democratic Reaction Center, a vote for a more hopeful future.

The argument to vote for Andrew Cuomo over Zoran Mamdani as New York City mayor is just as convincing as the RFK Jr. vaccine briefing. But the worst reason to choose Cuomo over Mamdani is that younger lawmakers “damage the brand” of democratic anti-Trump opposition and “voting has to play a long game.” In other words, yes, Cuomo may not be as politically bold or charismatic as Mamdani, but if Cuomo loses, the fundamentally centric country will oppose the Democrats for such radical elections. But “long games” are lost, and it’s amazing how many times Democrats need to learn this lesson.

Ranking Cuomo is to reward the legacy centre for corruption and ignore his misogynistic private life. Cuomo’s support of a group of Republican-aligned Democrats known as Independent Democrats who blocked the laws that helped workers should be disqualified. As governor, he should be disqualified for hiding the number of deaths of COVID nurses. You should not recognize that at least 13 women have been accused of sexual harassment. “Long Game” means that the only principle, uncritical support for the Israeli massacre and the prosperity of billionaires (those who raise all boats of course), cheers on the only candidate.

The establishment, which makes this claim, from Bill Clinton to James Clyburn, believes that he does not recognize how toxic Cuomo is as an individual and how his political profile rebelles against voters, especially in this age of sharp crisis and rising fascism. People long for politicians who make programmatic promises to oppose their rights, not just rhetorical (followed by texts seeking money). (Why do you receive a textbook asking me to help you pay DNC debt? How did you get my number?)

“Long Game” has produced 50 years of political defeat and secured more. Since Nixon won 49 states in 1972, our several victories have been due to brave social movements with roots in the 1960s and ’70s. Everything else was a near-relent change around margins, representations of performance, and the bipartisan attacks on workers that were volatile in the top 10 of the 1%, even when they were already feeling apocalyptic, 15 years ago. We need to prepare for the class of signs, either by Cuomo Democrats or even as opposed. Prepare for more gated communities, more private police, and more vigilante violence from both sides.

I hope Zohran wins. Not because I think he will succeed in all of his initiatives, but because I am naive enough to think there is no ugly bipartisan backlash. I hope he wins as he will be a statement about the appeal of his platform. It would be a statement against Trumpism, particularly the Gestapo war against ICE immigration. It is a statement that the city’s people feel they have found a pointless crackdown on Mayor Eric Adams’s current Trump-controlled violent police officers’ crackdown against peaceful Palestinian rights protesters. And that would be a statement that Trumpism demands Political It’s not a multi-million dollar search for “Left Joe Rogan.”

Perhaps most importantly, it is that as an internet dial-up, it has been in power for decades and decades and is highly relevant to the ears, and has been resiliently responsive, and it has strengthened the centristic democratic geriatric job (Cuomo). However, ranking mum ticks rather than cuomo is not just against something. I think the Mamdae agenda and the movement to select Mamdae are causing my (of course) high school peers to be involved in campaigns as well as voting. Without inspiration and optimism, it would be impossible to construct a move that could change this country for the better.

I don’t predict who will win, whether Mayor Mamdani will be able to implement an ambitious plan to make the city actually liveable for working-class people (I once swear by that), but I know it will hit the boolean liberals who refuse to reject power. These Whig Party’s endings cannot come soon.
