Steelers GM Omar Khan under contract through 2028 with new deal

The Pittsburgh Steelers signed a new three-year deal with general manager Omar Khan and signed it throughout the 2028 season.

“Omar and his team have done an incredible job of building rosters over the past three years through the NFL Draft, strategic trading and free agency, and we look forward to continuing this trend.

Khan, 48, was hired as the Steelers general manager in 2022 and replaced Kevin Colbert, who resigned after 12 seasons. This is Khan’s 25th season in the franchise.

The Steelers were 29-22 as GM in Khan’s three seasons, winning the postseason over the past two years. Both Pittsburgh lost in the wildcard round.

“I would like to thank Art Rooney II for his support,” Khan said in a statement. “We’ve built a championship roster and look forward to more than the 2025 season. Our goal is to bring another Super Bowl to the city of Pittsburgh and our great fans.”

Khan has been offensive in dealing with free agents, especially since taking over this year, when he completed blockbuster deals such as wide-ranging receiver DK Metcalf and cornerback Jalen Ramsey. In free agency, his signature this year includes quarterback Aaron Rodgers and cornerback Darius Slay.

The Steelers also have 12 picks in the 2026 NFL Draft hosted in Pittsburgh.

Steelers coach Mike Tomlin signed a three-year extension last year, signing him throughout the 2027 season.
