OHWINGS MILLS, Maryland – Baltimore Ravens Safety Aldarius Washington suffered from Achilles, broken during conditioning, sources confirmed to ESPN, putting the 2025 season at risk.

Washington started a career-high 12 games last season (including the playoffs). He was expected to play a pivotal role in defense even after Baltimore drafted the Safety Malaki Starks in the first round last month.

“I can’t explain how I feel right now. Why are you thinking about me all night? Why now? What I want to do is one of the best people I’ve had after my years. But God is not saying it now.

After not being drafted in 2021, Washington overcame his career and an injury-filled start to his size (5 feet 8, 180 pounds), becoming one of Baltimore’s biggest surprises last season.

“Aldarius is a great example of a guy who took a chance and ran,” Ravens general manager Eric DeCosta said in January.

The 25-year-old Washington finished with a career-high 64 tackles last season, defending two interceptions and eight passes. Washington was known for his big plays, forcing then-steelback Russell Wilson to a fumble within the Ravens’ five-yard line in Week 16, then sprinting through the Texans, who cut one yard in the end zone with the fourth and goal in Week 17.

Restricted free agent Washington signed the bid on April 21, ensuring he would make $3,263 million this season.

This is Washington’s third serious injury in five years’ career. He missed the final seven games of the 2021 season with a foot injury and suffered a chest injury before being sidelined for 15 games in 2023.

The NFL Network was the first to report the injury to Achilles in Washington.
