Palm Beach, Fla. — Philadelphia Eagles coach Nick Cilianni spoke to the veteran tight end Dallas Gaedart position at his annual league meeting Tuesday morning, stopping him from ensuring he remains on the moving forward roster.
“He’s on our soccer team now,” Syriani said. “Obviously, Dallas Gaedart means a lot to us. See how it unfolds. He’s one of the football players, one of the leaders. We want you to bring as many people as possible home, but that’s what happens, how it happens, but of course you’re coming back to everyone.”
The 30-year-old Goedert has been the subject of a wide range of trade speculation this offseason. He is in the final year of a four-year contract averaged $14 million per season, and has a cap hit of around $12 million.
The Eagles have given many big deals to stars such as Jalen Hurts, AJ Brown, Saquon Barkley, Devonta Smith and Lane Johnson in recent years, but have taken a cash-conscious approach to managing the roster this offseason. They took a sweat from free agent defensive linemen Milton Williams and Josh on vacation at a free agency and traded start safety CJ Gardner Johnson for the Houston Texans. The player identified as part of the future core is getting deals, like linebacker Zack Baun, who won cash in his All-Paro season by signing three-year $51 million in March, but resources have only grown so far.
“There are no updates,” general manager Howie Roseman said Monday when asked about Gaedart. “Obviously Dallas was an incredible player and person for us. We have great respect for him, both in terms of players and as people.”
On his second pick from South Dakota in 2018, Goedert started 76 games with the Eagles, compiling 349 catches for 4,085 yards and 24 touchdowns. He had 496 yards and 42 catches in 10 games and two scores during the 2024 regular season, leading the team in receptions (17) and yards (215) during the postseason Super Bowl run.
The injury prevents him from reaching his greatest potential in Philadelphia. He has missed more than three games in each of the last three seasons.
If GoeDert comes out, Grant Calcaterra is the main option for the tight end of the current roster. The Eagles also made a year-long deal with Harrison Bryant and Kylen Grantson this offseason.
“We won the Super Bowl last year, and everyone was responsible,” Siliani said. “Whether it’s sweat or it’s Milton, you do something special together and you go back to Chauncy whenever someone moves, whether they miss it on the way.
