PUEBLO, Colo. (CelebrityAccess) — Country music artist Scotty McCreery briefly stopped performing at the Colorado State Fair on Aug. 24 after a man in the audience allegedly punched a female fan.

The incident, captured on a fan-made video, happened when McCreery began performing his recent hit “It Matters To Her” and stopped mid-song.

“Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey. Right here. Right here,” McCreary said, gesturing to the crowd. “That was a woman you just hit, Judge. No way. Who just hit a woman?”

McCrea then called in police and venue security to deal with the situation and asked spectators to help identify the suspect.

After security responded to the incident, McCrea said: “Did you get him? Are you OK?”, before adding: “Whoever you are, hitting a woman is the epitome of cowardice. Get the hell out of here.”

A Colorado State Fair representative confirmed to NBC News that the incident occurred during the show and asked any fans who have footage of the alleged assault to share it with the fair’s security team.

“Colorado State Fair security assisted with crowd control. This incident remains under investigation and we cannot provide any further comment,” Olga Robach, public information director for the Colorado Department of Agriculture, said in an email to NBC News.
