Richard Simmons He’s in heaven wearing his trademark tank top and shorts, sweating…at least that’s what his brother said at Richard’s celebration of life.
The late fitness guru was remembered Saturday in his hometown of New Orleans, Louisiana…and his brother, leonardcompared him to Clark Kent during an emotional memorial service at St. Louis Cathedral.
According to Leonard, Richard was like Superman in that he always wore a tank top and shorts under his clothes — much like Clark wears a superhero costume under his street clothes. That’s what it means.
Richard’s brother said that he will “sweat with the saints forever” as he watches over his fans and family in heaven.
Richard’s brother said only about eight people attended RS’s private funeral, but the celebration of life in NOLA is a public event that is likely to draw a large crowd.
This line elicited a big laugh from the crowd…and for good reason.
As you can see, many fans showed up to the memorial service dressed like Richard…tank tops, shorts, and some even wore curly wigs.
The church was packed, and after the service, fans marched through the streets to give Richard a grand sendoff in true New Orleans style…it was like a Mardi Gras parade.
TMZ broke the story…Richard died in julywhen he fell in the bathroom, and then refused medical assistance The night before. Cops later said his death was an accident. Due to complications from the fallciting heart disease as a contributing factor.
Richard was 76 years old. buried in Los Angeles at Pierce Brothers Westwood Village Memorial Park and Mortuary…and now he’s back home and getting some serious love.
