Retired New York Giants wide receiver Victor Cruz didn’t have the NFL career he had hoped for. His career was cut short by injury. Cruz played five seasons with the Giants before injuries forced him into retirement.
After retiring, Cruz joined ESPN as an analyst.
Cruz has taken the next step in his career and is now joining TNT Sports as an analyst. TNT is embarking on its inaugural season of Mountain West football coverage, Announced A new line-up of commentators will be introduced on Wednesday.
Crews will be joined by former NFL stars Champ Bailey and Takey Spikes as commentators for the Mountain West studio broadcast, with Adam Lefko serving as studio host.
Cruz, an undrafted free agent when he entered the league, was known for his speed, acrobatic catches and the salsa dancing he did after every touchdown.
In five seasons with New York, Cruz recorded 303 receptions for 4,549 yards and 25 touchdowns with just three fumbles. After tearing his patellar tendon in 2014, Cruz struggled to recover and was sidelined for the 2015 season due in part to a calf injury.
Cruz returned to the field in 2016, but was eventually released by the Giants in 2017. He joined the Chicago Bears, but was released in September of that year. He eventually announced his retirement before the 2018 season, at which point he joined ESPN.
Mountain West Conference coverage will begin on Aug. 29, marking the first time TNT Sports has aired college football since 2006.
