Rapper Passes Away at 34

Platinum-selling rapper Rich Homie Quan (real name Decantes Devontay Lamar) passed away on September 5th at his home in Atlanta.

He is 34 years old. His cause of death was not immediately announced along with the news of his death.

Now, almost a month after his death, we know what took this young man from us too soon.

Cause of death of Rich Homie Quan

The Fulton County Coroner said in a statement at the time of his death that a full autopsy will be performed in the future.

Sadly, the result will sound all too familiar.

The Fulton County, Georgia, coroner’s office said Rich died from the combined effects of fentanyl, alprazolam, codeine and promethazine. TMZ.

In other words, he overdosed on drugs. His death was ruled an accident.

TMZ front got the recording The star’s girlfriend made a 911 call that Thursday afternoon in which she said the artist was not breathing and had no heartbeat.

She also said Rich Homie Quan was unresponsive sitting on her couch at home and began foaming at the mouth when she tried to move him.

Especially well known and loved in his hometown of Atlanta, the musician burst onto the scene in 2013 with the song “Type of Way.”

He followed up with fan favorites like “Flex (Ooh, Ooh, Ooh),” “Ride Out,” “Lifestyles” and “Save Dat Money.”

His debut album, Rich As In Spirit, was released in March 2018 and peaked at number 32 on the Billboard 200 chart.

The rapper previously joined Young Thug on Cash Money Records’ project Rich Gang and frequently collaborates with Atanta residents 2 Chainz and Jaquiz.

“Damn bro, we were just talking about the video shoot,” 2 Chainz wrote on Instagram today after learning of the tragedy. “Please pray specially for you and your family and everyone who is going through something. My condolences go out to you.”

Another rapper, Boosie, also confirmed reports that an overdose caused Lamar’s death in a series of messages posted on Twitter.

“I just talked to Bra,” he said on the platform. “#tipQUAN Never forget your smile, the way you speak, and of course the music.”

In a follow-up post, Boosie added:

“We made good memories together. It always brings a smile to my face #restupquan We even cooked some dishes.”

Lamar is the father of four sons, two with Amber “Lella” Williams and two from previous relationships. May he rest in peace.
