PlanetPlay Data drawn from a new in-game poll have been released play2act It provided evidence that gaming could encourage greener habits among gamers.
Polls reported that 79% of respondents who played the game with green messages or environmental content had led to at least one positive behavioral change after playing these games.
Of these players, 47% report reducing environmental impacts through energy use or public transport, while 34% reporting greener consumption choices.
Released in September 2024, Play2act is a poll built into a popular game designed to explore the role of games in tackling climate and natural crises. The initiative was developed by PlanetPlay, a non-profit platform that contributes to environmental action through games, in collaboration with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
Over 181,000 players from 189 countries, including 70 smallest developed or small island developing countries, responded to a series of Play2act survey questions placed in 24 popular games, including Metro Surfer, Beat Star, and Pokemon GO. And especially Aberkin Life.
