NFL Week 3 odds are now a thing of the past.
But if all of our analysts are allowed to reflect on what they would have done on Monday morning, why can’t we at FOX Sports do the same for sports betting fans?
The gambling public loves to bet on parlays, and it’s understandable: the prospect of winning a large amount for a small bet is as appealing as the lottery, or in this case, the mini-lottery.
But also remember: parlays are the bookmaker’s best friend.
That being said, what would you say if I told you that betting $10 on the two-time MVP to score first, the former rushing champion to score first, the championship favorite to win in straight games, the reigning Super Bowl champion to cover, or the Monday Night Football game to exceed 47.5 points could net you a profit of more than $4,000?
That would have been the case by week 3. With that in mind, here is the first edition.
It could have been done, it could have been done
The following parlays on DraftKings Sportsbook’s NFL Week 3 markets are a hit:
- Lamar Jackson (+1100) scores the first touchdown in the Ravens-Cowboys game
- Jonathan Taylor (+500) scores first TD in Colts-Bears game
- Lions Moneyline (-150) vs. Cardinals
- Chiefs -3 (-115) vs. Falcons
- Jaguars vs. Bills total, over 47.5 points (-110)
The odds for this five-leg parlay were around +42730, or more simply put, around 427 to 1. This means that your net profit from this $10 bet would be a massive $4,273.
Jackson led the Ravens to a 7-0 lead in the opening minutes at Dallas, Taylor did the same for the Colts at home against Chicago, Detroit beat Arizona 20-13 and Kansas City barely pulled off a comeback with a 22-17 win at Atlanta.
And on Monday night, in Buffalo’s 47-10 victory over Jacksonville, Josh Allen and the Bills piled on 47 points, nearly surpassing the point total on their own.
But again, there’s a reason the odds on this kind of bet are so high – bet accordingly.
It’s okay to make these bets for a little entertainment for $10 or $20, but don’t make these bets to cover next month’s rent.
