New York Giants manager Brian Daboll announced Tuesday afternoon that his players have selected the following five teammates as team captains for the 2024 season:
On offense will be quarterback Daniel Jones and left tackle Andrew Thomas, on defense will be defensive tackle Dexter Lawrence and linebacker Bobby Okereke, and on special teams will be long snapper Casey Kreiter.
“The players voted for captains today. We have five captains,” Daboll told reporters. “On special teams, we have Casey Kreiter. On offense, we have Daniel Jones and Andrew Thomas. On defense, we have Dexter and Bobby. They were voted on by their teammates.”
Last season, the team elected 10 players as team captains, which was excessive, including Jones, Thomas, Lawrence and Okereke.
Daboll delivered the message during a press conference at 1:30 p.m. EDT, two and a half hours before the deadline for final cuts.
As a result, there has been no official announcement as to who will remain on the team, which players will be released and which will be retained, or when the final roster will be announced.
The Giants’ beat pool was left confused as they waited to watch a practice by players who remained on the roster.
Daboll did not confirm or deny who is on the roster during his press conference, even though we will see who is on the roster at practice. Judging by his answer, it appears that Tommy DeVito, Gunner Olszewski, Diontae Johnson, Matthew Adams and Jervarius Owens made the “original” 53. We’ll see…

Daboll remained tight-lipped as general manager Joe Sean is still negotiating trades and is likely waiting for a final word from the medical team on the player’s status.
