Bridgewater, N.J. (AP) – Elon Musk says he’s running his threat to form a new political party His rift with President Donald Trumpannounces the American Party in response to the President’s fundamental tax cuts law.

Musk, a former ally to Trump when he led a novel agency known as government efficiency, broke with the Republican president about his signature law, which was signed into law on Friday.

When the bill passes through Congress, Musk threatened to form an “American Party” “If this insane spending bill passes.”

“When it comes to bankrupting our country with waste and grafts, we live in a one-party system, not a democracy,” Musk said on Saturday at X, the social media company he owns. “Today, the American Party is formed to give you your freedom back.”

Although the formation of new political parties is not uncommon, they usually struggle to separate important support from Republicans and Democrats. But Musk, the world’s wealthiest man who supports Trump with at least $250 million in the 2024 election, could have an impact on the 2026 election, which determines control of Congress if he is willing to spend a significant amount of money.

He rekindled with the president Musk can also cost moneythe company relies on billions of dollars in government contracts, and Tesla, a publicly traded company, became a hit in the market.

It was not clear whether Musk had taken steps to formally create a new political party. Musk’s spokesmouth and his political action committee, the US PAC, did not immediately comment on Sunday.

As of Sunday morning, multiple political parties were listed since the X-Post of Mask Saturday, which were founded with the version of “Doge” or “X” “American Party” of the “Doge” or “X” or the version of Musk listed among those belonging to the entity.

However, it didn’t look like the real thing listing organizational contacts as email addresses such as “wentsnowboarding@yahoo.com” or an in-run Proton email address.

Musk on Sunday showed that he would spend the morning with X, taking user feedback about the party and using the party to take part in the 2026 midterm elections.

Last month he threatened to try and drive away all members of Congress who voted for Trump’s bill. Musk called the tax credit and spending reduction package “sick and hateful.”

“The Republicans are sweeping up their executives, legislative and judicial branches neatly, and still have the nerve to significantly increase the size of their government, expanding national debt with just a record $5 trillion,” Musk said on X on Sunday.

His criticism of the bill and moves to form a political party have caught his time in the White House, with heads of rocket company SpaceX and electric car maker Tesla saying they will spend “a lot less” in the future.

Secretary of the Treasury Scott BescentThose who clashed with Musk while he was running the Doge said in CNN’s Sunday “Union Status” that Doge’s “principles” are popular, but “If you’re looking at the votes, Elon wasn’t.”

“These boards imagined that they didn’t like this announcement yesterday and would encourage him to focus on his business activities rather than his political activities,” he said.
