Kirk Cousins led Atlanta’s perfect final drive, connecting with Drake London for a 7-yard touchdown with 34 seconds left to give the Falcons a 22-21 victory over the Philadelphia Eagles on Monday night.
With 1:46 left, Saquon Barkley dropped a short pass that stopped the clock, forcing the Eagles to settle for a field goal rather than a game-winning first down, which was plenty of time for Cousins, especially against an Eagles defense that had no pass rush and played soft coverage.

Playing in just his second game since rupturing his Achilles tendon on Oct. 29 while playing at Minnesota, the 36-year-old veteran shook off some shaky play and threw consecutive passes of 21 and 26 yards to Darnell Mooney on the team’s final drive.
Cousins set up London for the tying goal with a short pass to the right, and after London was fouled for unsportsmanlike conduct, Young-Ho Koo ran in a 48-yard extra point to give Atlanta (1-1) the lead.

Jalen Hurts’ final pass was intercepted by Jessie Bates III to seal the victory for Atlanta, setting off wild celebrations on the sideline.
The Eagles (1-1) took the lead on a 1-yard tackle by Hurts with 6:47 left. Barkley had 95 yards on 22 carries in his home debut at Philadelphia, but his drop gave the Falcons hope.
And Cousins has begun to play like the quarterback Atlanta expected him to be when he signed him to a four-year, $180 million contract.
