But these things are very relative. And clearly others in his prison facility don’t have the same experience.
Are the conditions really inhumane, with prisoners being served food infested with maggots? One lawsuit alleges all of this and more.
Are the prison conditions that hold Josh Duggar inhumane?
Josh Dugar is an inmate at FCI Seago Building. He is serving a 151-month sentence in a Dallas facility after downloading and possessing child sexual abuse material.

On February 26, 2024, Juadeno Peterson sued FCI Seagoville. The lawsuit accuses the facility of violating his human rights, citing mental suffering as one of the consequences.

He cited unsuitable food and claimed it was stored with garbage. He accused the prison of denying him medical services.
The email also described treatment by staff and a number of other questionable issues, many of which were related to health and safety.

In another email included in the lawsuit, Peterson again mentioned food being stored with trash.
He wrote that he heard another inmate “talking about a food tray that had maggots in it.”
The email also claimed there was “raw sewage inside the prison.” The lawsuit sought $494,658.83.
The court dismissed the lawsuit on May 16th. This was not because of the merits of the case itself, but because the defendant failed to inform the court of his latest address after being released from the Bureau of Prisons.
It’s hard to know what to think about lawsuits and emails. The inmates’ writing style is haphazard, suggesting everything from neglect of education to language barriers to cognitive impairment. All of this, by the way, can increase the chances of someone going to jail.
Allegations of inadequate food provision in prisons are quite plausible. The same goes for claims of being denied medical care. That doesn’t mean it’s true in this case, but it’s not something people can casually ignore.
Does it matter if the situation is inhumane?
There is a worrying tendency to ignore the plight of prisoners. After all, prisons are the means by which society punishes people for their crimes.
It must be emphasized that there are ethical standards. While our cancer system violates human rights on many fronts and certainly contributes to an increase in overall crime, the least we can do is ensure that everyone has safe food, safe The goal is to provide a safe environment and access to medical care.
Also, almost as importantly, Josh Duggar is not a sympathetic figure. And Josh Duggar has certainly committed a variety of crimes. However, the same cannot be said for everyone else in the facility.
