Joseph Parker still has goals. He “hopes to become a world champion, a world unified champion, and revenge the losses I have had, and retire.”
That effort all begins for him when he challenges Daniel Dubois for the IBF heavyweight world title. Sky Sports Box Officewhen the New Zealander bids to become two-time heavyweight world champions at the Riyadh season event on Saturday.
Asking for a loss for revenge would lead him to a rematch with Anthony Joshua. Anthony Joshua defeated Parker in 2018 to win the WBO title, winning the New Zealander.
But if Parker defeats DuBois – a tough assignment in itself – AJ may not take a shot immediately with that IBF belt.
Parker could either take on USYK for the indisputable crown or immediately rematch DuBois.
“We’re not locked up as a rematch, but that could happen,” Parker said.
“I don’t know if I’ll fight Daniel, win, have a rematch, or if I can fight Usyk, or if I can fight what they were planning for me. That’s with Daniel. To fight and see what happens next.
“I can say I’m going to fight usyk, but the plans are constantly changing,” he added. “There’s a choice there, but the most important thing is to win.”
Parker is sure he will beat DuBois because he “feels he knows what he’s trying to do.”
He explained:
“I have to be on the point. I have to be much better than I was with him. [Zhilei] With Chan [Deontay] Wilder. I feel like I have to do because of the pressure he comes and the combination he throws. He is a great power. So I need to be better and more and more in my game.
“We have a good plan to get out of our position of what he brings and fight back against what we bring.”
