Jeri Ryan Turned Down A New Star Trek Spin-Off After Picard Ended

5 Min Read

In the Star Trek: Picard series finale, The Last Generation (April 20, 2023), the villain is blown up and most of the heroes are rescued. Tragically, the grumpy but resolute Captain Liam Shaw (Todd Stashwick) dies on his ship Titan A, leaving his co-pilot Captain Seven of Nine (Jeri Ryan) with conflicting emotions. I held you. Seven was never respected by Captain Shaw. He felt that her Borg implants made her an enemy, and constantly gave her her dead name, calling her the name she had before she was assimilated.

However, after Captain Shaw’s death. Seven was appointed commander of Titan-A on his posthumous recommendation (he left behind a recording). The ship was renamed Enterprise-G, and “Picard” ended with a teaser for a spinoff series starring Ryan. ‘Star Trek: Picard’ showrunner Terry Matalas has made no secret that he is intentionally using the final episode to tease another ‘Star Trek’ spinoff, which he intended to call ‘Star Trek: Legacy.’ Ta. In fact, after “Picard” ended, many fans asked Paramount to greenlight “Legacy” to be installed on the Enterprise-G, and fans were joined by several “Picard” actors who would have been happy to participate.

Although “Legacy” would never materialize, many found the idea appealing. Ryan certainly wanted to be part of the “legacy.”

Speech at the “Star Trek” convention held in Texas in 2024 ( trek movie), Ryan revealed that he has been approached about reprising his role as Captain Seven of Nine in a completely different Star Trek spin-off. But sadly she didn’t have any details beyond the fact that she was asked.

Jeri Ryan was asked to appear as Captain Seven of Nine on a show that wasn’t Star Trek: Legacy

Unfortunately, due to the secrecy surrounding modern studio productions, Ryan probably wasn’t allowed to talk about the nature of the mysterious “Star Trek” projects that were offered to her. All she could say was that she had been asked, but she seemed vague about it. Below is Ryan’s exact quote about the possibility of a Captain Seven show.

“There was talk, and there was an idea that was actually thrown at me after ‘Picard’ ended. I know it’s not the ‘Legacy’ show fans are looking for, but it’s something I want to do.” But it was just “not me.” […] It didn’t seem like the right kind of thing. […] But the story has come out. And if there’s one thing I’ve learned from this series, it’s to never say never. you never know. ”

From 2017 to 2023, Trekkies experienced a ton of new “Star Trek” shows thanks to the launch of the Paramount+ streaming service. There was a time, for a short period of time, when six Star Trek series were airing at the same time. Production has since been scaled back and most Star Trek shows have been canceled (with only Star Trek: Strange New Worlds and the upcoming Starfleet Academy having a clear future). However, that doesn’t mean Paramount isn’t always working on new “Star Trek” projects, and maybe the scrappy guys had an idea they liked better than “Star Trek: Legacy.” Ryan seems to be torn between reviving “Legacy” and participating in the aforementioned mystery project.

Oddly enough, even the executive producer Alex Kurtzman said he wanted to send a greenlight to “Legacy.” But that wasn’t his decision either. As of this writing, Trekkies are waiting for the end of “Star Trek: Lower Decks” and the airing of “Section 31” to find out what the future holds for “Star Trek” (if anything).
