Desmond Bane didn’t need a reminder. That statistic is already etched in the Memphis Grizzlies shooting guard’s head ahead of his matchup with the Boston Celtics. I can’t remember where I saw it, but the numbers are remarkable. Celtics superstar forward Jayson Tatum has never lost to the Grizzlies. Tatum has a 13-0 record against Memphis in eight seasons. “(The expletive) has to stop,” Bain told The Commercial Appeal.. -via memphis commercial appeal / December 6, 2024

Tatum wasn’t the only one to have success against the Grizzlies. Boston has won six consecutive games against Memphis since 2016 and has won 16 of 17 games. The Grizzlies’ one win came in overtime in 2021. Bane, Brandon Clarke and Jay Morant played in that game. Jaren Jackson Jr. was injured and John Conchar did not play due to a coach’s decision. It was Bane’s rookie season. In other words, for a long time. “I need that,” Bane said of beating the Celtics.. -via memphis commercial appeal / December 6, 2024
