James Bond Has Shaken Up a New Director: ‘Dune’ Helmer Denis Villeneuve

Rumors have been circulating about who will become the next director about going to James Bond at his super-speetic pace. Now we know who was hired: Dennis Villeneuve, behind four Oscar candidates Sand Dunes, Dunes: Part 2, Blade Runner 2049, arrival, Sicarioand more.

Variety Villeneuve also reports executive production with partners and frequent collaborator Tanya Lapointe. The deal features a very excited statement from Villeneuve.

“Some of my first movie’s memories are connected to 007. I grew up watching James Bond movies with my dad. Doctor With Sean Connelly. I’m a stubborn bond fan. To me, he is a sacred territory. I respect tradition and intend to pave the way for many new missions to come. This is a great responsibility, but it is extremely exciting and a great honor for me. Amy [Pascal]David [Heyman]and I’m absolutely thrilled to get him back on screen. Thank you for the trust of Amazon MGM Studios. ”

Pascal and Heyman’s involvement as producers of the much-anticipated Amazon MGM project was confirmed in March after a creative exit from Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson.
