IndiGo, Air India Express, Others To Lead Shift To Navi Mumbai Airport

1 Min Read

Bloomberg said there is a discussion going on between airlines and airport management, focusing on slot allocation and operational incentives. These incentives are expected to help airlines provide competitive fares, particularly around airport rates, and will help them to provide a smoother transition for both carriers and passengers.

Navi Mumbai International Airport, currently under development by Adani Group, will open in a single terminal that can handle 20 million passengers a year, and the expansion plan will allow the capacity to grow to 90 million over the next decade, Bloomberg reported. Domestic operations are expected to shift between April and June, with international flights scheduled to begin in August.

Prior to the launch, the airline is preparing a court project. Air India will be running a test flight using dual-adal aircraft in April, Bloomberg said. Indigo previously conducted its first verification flight at the airport in December 2024.

Indigo and Air India shares rose 2.16% and 5.53% compared to a 1.01% advance in the benchmark BSE Sensex 30.
