Hello friends! I hope you have a wonderful weekend! This week, I returned to school and started beta testing nutrition guidance. We will announce the details next week, so please look forward to it!

Today, let’s talk about dog treats. I know this is a bit random for a fitness blog, but my top posts so far have been about guinea pigs, baby food, and potty training, so there you have it, haha.

Maisie also insisted that she spread the word to her furry friends because she loves it so much.

I made some dog treats on a whim using ingredients I always had on hand. Let’s just say Maisie loves healthy human food and is interested in it. She loves plain chicken, eggs, peppers, natural peanut butter, and watermelon. She is also a big fan of Bully from. thriving market. She was also a big fan of these homemade dog treats. Much tastier than boxed dog biscuits. As always, if your pet has tried them, consult your veterinarian before making any changes to their diet.

Ingredients for homemade dog treat recipe:

Here are the ingredients you’ll want to have on hand for these peanut butter dog treats.

This is an easy treat recipe your furry friend will love! I used chickpea flour (I love chickpeas!) but you can use whole wheat instead .

  • author: Gina Harney // Fitness Star

1 cup Chickpea flour (you can also use whole wheat flour)

3 Eggs (reserve 1 egg for egg wash)

1/4 cup pumpkin puree

1/2 cup Peanut butter (please check ingredients for peanuts and salt only)

1/2 cup quick cooking oats

All-purpose flour for rolling

your favorite cookie cutter

Preheat oven to 325 degrees and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

In a large bowl, combine 2 eggs, peanut butter, pumpkin, chickpea flour (or flour), and oatmeal. Stir until a dough forms. Add more chickpea flour or all-purpose flour to the dough if needed.

Sprinkle all-purpose flour on a clean surface and add the dough. It will be sticky, so dust the outside of the dough with flour and roll it to about 1/2 inch thick. Cut the shapes using a cookie cutter and place them gently on the baking sheet.

Mix and roll the remaining dough and repeat.

Make an egg wash by whisking the remaining eggs and 1 tablespoon water in a small bowl. Use a pastry brush to brush the egg wash over each dog treat.

Place in the oven and bake until set, about 30 minutes. Allow to cool completely, then store in an airtight container at room temperature or in the refrigerator.
