Google is expanding its “Help me write” feature Gmail on the weballows users to compose and fine-tune emails using Gemini AI. Just like on mobile, when you open a blank draft in Gmail, you’ll be asked if you want to use this feature.

Google’s “Help me write” feature is only available to users enrolled in Google One AI Premium or who own the Gemini add-on for Workspace. “Help me write” not only lets you draft an email, but also offers suggestions on how to format, elaborate, and shorten your message.

Google is also adding a shortcut for a “polish” option available within the “Help me write” toolset, which will appear on drafts longer than 12 words. In Gmail on the web, users click the shortcut or type: Ctrl+H Correct emails quickly.

On mobile, this option replaces the existing Adjust Draft shortcut. Instead of swiping to see options to refine, format, elaborate, or shorten your email, swipe the Refine shortcut and the app will automatically refine your message. Users can then use Google’s other AI editing tools to further tailor their messages.

Google will gradually roll out “Help me write” across the web starting today, along with new “refinement” shortcuts.
