Strahan had a legendary career at Texas Southern before joining the Giants. He graduated with both the program’s single-season sack record (19 in 1992) and all-time sack record (41.5). He also earned numerous honors including first team All-American, Division I-AA Defensive Player of the Year, 1992 Black College Defensive Player of the Year, two-time SWAC Defensive Player of the Year, and All-SWAC member. obtained.
Strahan was selected 40th overall by the Giants in the 1993 NFL Draft. He played 15 years in the NFL, all of them with the Giants. He finished just 0.5 sacks behind Lawrence Taylor for the unofficial franchise sack record, but his 141.5 sacks officially rank him sixth in NFL history.
