Giants’ Ihmir Smith-Marsette named NFC Special Teams Player of the Week

New York Giants wide receiver Ihimir Smith-Marsette shined in Week 17 against the Indianapolis Colts, returning a second-half kickoff 100 yards home.

Smith-Marsette had been on the verge of breaking his vacation for weeks, but it finally happened on Sunday. the joy of his teammates.

The return, in a 28-13 win over the Giants, tied for the longest kick return in team history and the first since October 25, 2015 (Dwayne Harris).

“Someone said this is the first time this has happened since 2015.” Smith-Marsette said after the game.. “Nine years is quite a long time. I’m happy. I hope I can do it again someday.”

Smith-Marsette’s efforts were further rewarded on Monday when he was named NFC Special Teams Player of the Week.

This is the Giants’ second NFC Special Teams Player of the Week award this season. Defensive back Isaiah Simmons earned this honor in Week 5.
