Giannis Antetokounmpo: Winning better than intimacy

11 Min Read
Giannis Antetokounmpo: Listen, the MVP discussion is great. I’m part of the MVP discussion, how have you been in the past seven years? Yes, perhaps the last seven years – top 3, top 4, top 3, top 4. it’s good. That’s a great compliment. But at the end of the day, winning is a different feeling. I was able to live once (with the title 2021). And I don’t know if people feel it’s important, or if they don’t count, or what it is. Winnings are winning, so is the case with the NBA Cup. It was amazing, this feeling, man, it was like – it’s better than intimacy (lol).

Chris Haynes recently reported that you, Doc and Dame had a meeting after losing to Golden State (March 18th). Giannis Antetokounmpo: Who goes and tells people this? I don’t know. I’m not going to enter your locker room. But I wanted to let it go with you and see what it meant. Is that an argument that needs to happen? How was that? Giannis Antetokounmpo: It’s a conversation. It’s not unique. It’s a conversation with your coach. I have multiple conversations with Doc – on the plane, on the bus, after the game, during the game, during the game, on the bus. Just a conversation. You need to do this. You need to do that. That’s nothing more than a conversation, right? It’s not more than that. I don’t know if people want to make more of it. It’s not more than that. That’s it – you just have to lead. And that’s true. Sometimes the coach comes out and says, “Hey, you guys aren’t leading now. You’re thinking too much about everything. You guys aren’t making it easy for you, you guys, you’re not blah, blah, blah.” -via New York Times / March 25, 2025
