The 10 central trade unions and independent sector-specific coalitions and association platforms received support from the Farmers Union on Wednesday for a national strike against four labor laws. RSS-backed Bhartiye Mazdoo Sangh (BMS) announced that he would not take part in the strike.
In a statement, BMS said it was paying attention to the government’s proposal to change labor laws and was prepared for such corrective actions in the interest of workers. He also said the protest was politically motivated.

However, other unions were pushed up. Their requests included a minimum monthly pension of 9,000 years including fixed-term employment withdrawal and the abandonment of Agnipath schemes, eight-hour work, restoration of the non-dominant old pension scheme, and EPFO subscribers.
They also requested the implementation of the Indian Labor Council (ILC) recommendations, granting workers’ status to workers (such as Anganwadi, Asha’s Food, Asha Kiran) and providing ESIC compensation. Their demand charter highlighted the urgent need to establish a Climate Elasticity Fund to cover the risks and damages caused by extreme climatic conditions, including heat waves, floods, cyclones, seasonal rain, and more.
The charter of demand has also prompted hosts of ILCs. Furthermore, the tripartite group last met in 2015. Additionally, the association called for an immediate termination of privatization of Indian Railways, road transport, coal mines and other non-coal mines.
Famers’ joint forum, Samyukta Kisan Morcha (SKM), appealed to people to expand their workers’ support for general strikes. They requested the abolition of four labor codes that do not include C2+50% MS for all crops, a minimum wage of £26,000 a month, and privatization of other PSUs. “Strikes strengthen a broad, sustained, powerful struggle until all demands come true,” they warned.

In a statement, the farmers said the general strike was opposed to the imposition of a free trade agreement on Indians. US imperialism has unleashed every effort to impose unfair terms of trade on the Modi government and force India to throw away US produce. The intent of the free trade agreement is the unregulated freedom for US food chains, trade giants and agribusiness companies to operate in India.
