The Grok 3, the latest and most powerful AI model announced by Elon Musk’s Xai on Tuesday, is 10 times more capable than its predecessor, the Grok 2.
During the live streaming event, Mask introduced advanced AI and introduced its capabilities in reasoning, in-depth research and handling creative tasks. The unparalleled performance of Grok 3 in science, coding and mathematics has surpassed industry giants like Google’s Gemini 2 Pro and Openai’s GPT-4.
The launch event highlighted the Grok 3’s groundbreaking capabilities. Musk emphasizes the “seeking the greatest truth” nature of the model, explaining that it is to offer deep, empathetic understanding even when challenged with politically correct views.
Subscription tier and early access
Xai has deployed Grok 3 to Premium+ Subscribers on X, encouraging users to update their apps and access new features. For those looking for previous access and cutting edge features, Xai has introduced Super Grok, a new subscription tier available on both the Grok app and the newly launched website grok.com.
Power and Deepsearch Tool for Grok 3
The most important upgrade of the Grok 3 is its computing power, boasting more than 10 times the capacity of the Grok 2. Built on a huge 2,00,000 GPU cluster in Memphis, Tennessee, the supercomputer Colossus was developed within eight months. The masks were completed in January before training for the Grok 3, revealing that daily improvements will be rolled out and continuous development will be ensured.
Another highlight is Grok 3’s DeepSearch Tool. It is a smart AI-driven search engine that not only answers queries, but also explains the thought processes behind each response. This feature is set to change the way users interact with AI, providing a more insightful and transparent experience.
Xai vs Openai
Musk’s criticism of Openai, which he co-founded, also echoed through the launch event. Musk accused Openai of wandering out of the original mission and led him to file a lawsuit against the company. Xai is currently aiming to raise about $10 billion in funding and is aiming to rival Openai. It calls for $40 billion to promote its own ambitions. Xai’s valuation could reach $75 billion, positioning it as a strong candidate for the rapidly growing AI industry.
Grok 3 reasoning function
Building Grok 3 requires extensive infrastructure, and Xai built its own data center in just four months. The center currently operates 200,000 GPUs to ensure smoother features on the model. In the demonstration, Grok 3 introduced the inference ability by calculating and plotting the trajectory of Mars exploration and also designing new video game concepts.
