Billionaire businessman Elon Musk has taken a swipe at the idea of scarcity, suggesting that the potential to create jobs and business is essentially limitless.
“The ‘pie is fixed’ fallacy is at the heart of much bad economic thinking. There are essentially limitless possibilities for creating jobs and companies. Think of all the things we didn’t do!” Musk declared in a post to X.
Musk’s comments were in response to a post by entrepreneur Joe Lonsdale, who mentioned Sriram Krishnan, who President-elect Trump recently nominated for a role in the incoming administration. Mr. Krishnan advocated removing the green card cap last month when he responded to Mr. Musk’s post about the Department of Government Efficiency, a new agency Mr. Musk will lead with businessman Vivek Ramaswamy.
“Removing country caps on green cards and unlocking skilled immigration would all be huge,” Krishnan tweeted. In another post, Krishnan wrote, “Simple logic – we want the best, no matter where they are born (also weirdly weird – the upper limit on nationality is where they are born) (and not even nationality),” he added.

“Sriram still supports skill-based criteria for receiving green cards, rather than making the program open-ended. In fact, he wants the program to be completely merit-based,” Sachs said. wrote in part of the post.

President Trump announced this month that he would nominate Krishnan as senior policy adviser for artificial intelligence in the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy.
“Working closely with David Sachs, Sriram is committed to ensuring continued U.S. leadership in AI, including working with the President’s Science and Technology Advisory Council,” President Trump said in a post on Truth Social. “We will support the formulation and coordination of overall AI policy.” .
