Like many gamers, I’ll be playing The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom this weekend. Normally I’d put such personal information further down in KF, but I’m mentioning it here because it’s also some of my favorite stories of the week. Nintendo has begun game development. Ask our developer interview series — We featured a story by series producer Eiji Aonuma. Satoshi Terada, game director of partner studio Grezzo. Tomomi Sano, Nintendo’s development director.
Sano has several years of experience in the industry and holds multiple titles. As others have noted, Sano was the first woman to direct a main Zelda title, and from the looks of the game, she absolutely nailed it. I was already excited to play Zelda’s new standalone adventure (no offense, Link), but Sano, as well as Terada and Aonuma, have given Echoes everything from a build-your-own dungeon title to a prank-playing sim that’s been a long time coming. Seeing them talk about how they evolved over time and finding creative solutions to problems raised my goals to 11. It will definitely be my game of choice this weekend.
The rest of this week was a bit hectic. First up was the State of Play, which showcased Ghost of Yorei, a beautiful new game in the Ghost of series. Of course, that wasn’t the only thing that was revealed, but it was the one that stuck with me the most. We also got to see the Horizon Zero Dawn remaster. This didn’t seem like a huge upgrade, but who can tell? The PS5 Pro Limited Edition sold out almost instantly, so you lucky suckers need one. something To play with it.
Another big event this week was the Ubisoft meltdown. The company has postponed the next Assassin’s Creed game to February next year. It’s already a bit crowded with Civilization VII, Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, Monster Hunter Wild, Avowed, Like a Dragon, and now AC: Shadows. Jockey to stand out and look like you’re doing it. The company also acknowledged that Star Wars Outlaws’ performance was so poor that it had to revise its earnings forecasts. It turned out to be a small matter weekright?
