Earthquake of magnitude 4.5 jolts Afghanistan

A magnitude 4.5 earthquake shook Afghanistan’s Badakhshan region early Sunday morning, the National Center for Seismology (NCS) reported.

According to the NCS, the earthquake occurred in the early hours of the morning at 6.30am Indian Standard Time (IST).

According to the National Center for Seismology, the quake occurred at a depth of 10 kilometers. It was recorded at 37.10 degrees north latitude and 71.12 degrees east longitude in the Badakhshan region of Afghanistan.

The Badakhshan region of Afghanistan is a mountainous region prone to natural disasters.
