Spoilers for “Robot Revolution.”
The beginning of every season Doctor Who If you have a new co-star to introduce, as important and double-double. “The Robot Revolution” has to fall in love with Belinda Chandra (Varada Sethu), seduce new fans and enthralle existing fans. In particular, Disney paid the second in two series, meaning they have to do well enough to flow the money.
We open “17 years ago” and stare at the star next to her boyfriend, Alan Budd (Johnny Green). It’s a nasty teen date and Alan is clearly trying to win his Bo centre by purchasing one of her star adoption certificates. In 2025, Belinda is currently a busy London Hospital nurse, with doctors looking for her in the background.
Belinda returns home to her bed and discovers that she has a walled Starr’s certificate of ownership. But she is rudely awakened by a team of retro fuchilistic 50s robots Tintin Rocket Someone who has begun to addict both hers and certificate. The doctor reaches out to her house just in time to see the rocket take off and queues the opening credits.
The certificate is not a gag presence, she is actually the queen of Belinda Kandra, a planet inhabited by the Belinda Chandrians (I will now call her human). The doctor chases after him with TARDIS, but both Rocket and Tardis get caught up in a vaguely defined rift of time. When Belinda arrives, she is greeted by the human Sasha 55. She reports that the robot is in charge and defeated and conquered people in a bloody uprising ten years ago.
“Oh, this is a bit similar Jupiter rises,” I wrote in my notes.
Belinda is taken to the throne chamber, where she is told she must merge with the AI Generator, the planet’s evil ruling supercomputer. AI generator, all skull shapes and Tesla coils, bond and Belinda. She is wrapped in a piece of machinery and becomes an unthinkable cyborg, which shows a demonstration of her fate’s animation.
“Yeah, that’s like a scary bit Superman III,” I wrote in my notes.
Who is hiding in the background of the scene all the time? A doctor who adopted the title of the planetary historian. (Thanks to The Time Fisure, he arrives here six months before the rocket, the robot seizes Tardis and works with the rebellion. She. In the subsequent battle, Sasha55 evaporates, and is greatly helpful to the doctor’s apparently short fear and sadness.
Surviving rebels and small roombabots assigned to clean up the paths of Clean Belinda…
“Yeah, from floor cleaning robot Mo Wall-e,” I wrote in my notes.
…Runs to the teleporter. The doctor then disables the roomva to make sure the robots are unable to track them and kisses the bot by apologizing. There is then time for the episode to halt while watching the doctor and Belinda have a proper dialogue for the first time. The doctor is told about Belinda’s light letters from someone in their future, and he cannot keep the timeline untidy.
The time fractures that both ships passed have caused many time-bending problems, like the fact that the robot has its own copy of Belinda’s star certificate. But it’s not a copy, it’s the same object from another point in time, and no one knows how and why they have it. Belinda is working hard enough to know that two of the same objects from different points cannot take up the same space, like Ruby Sunday before her, not causing an explosion.
“Ah, like Time cup!,” I wrote in my notes.
Injured at the base, Belinda immediately kicks him out into nurse mode and grabs IV to treat the patient. She is in charge right away, has no patience with nonsense, and can quickly protect herself from any hints of mercy when the doctor suggests anything.Timey-Wimey‘ is currently underway. She is determined to refuse to fight her fight for her, grab the story no matter the cost and shape it in her way.
Belinda and the doctor are taken to meet an AI generator. When Belinda was lured into the robot, she said her ex Alan had purchased the certificate, so they went to invite him too. However, the fracture of time meant that Alan arrived ten years ago and fused with the machine (becomes a creepy cyborg), and launched a robotic uprising.
Still, Belinda is happy to sacrifice herself to him until he finds Alan holding a copy of his star certificate. She chooses Time Cup The two sheets of paper come together and cause a huge, time-consuming explosion where only the doctor can pull her out. Belinda is safe, but doctors say he is currently intertwined with Belinda’s timestream. Meanwhile, Alan regresses to the sperm on the floor, and the roomva bot is quickly mop away.
Reuniting with Tardis, the doctor scans Belinda and reveals that he already met her grandson, Mundy Flynn (Varada Sethu), from last season’s “Boom.” Belinda may be interested in how people far away from her are identical, but she does not accept the mystery. She’s angry with the doctor to scan her without her consent, and that he treats her like a puzzle to solve.
Having seen Sasha55 die, she knows that trekking with the doctor is dangerous and wants to return to May 24, 2025. Corridor Bell It starts to sound the warning. They open the door to Taldis to see the empty space before the doctor decides to return her “a long road.”
When the ship disappears, a series of objects begin to float in front of the camera. Black cabtwisted wreckage of Eiffel Tower, Belinda’s Star adoption certificate, and a calendar of all days of May was engraved on the 25th. you know.
There are many things to go through in such a short episode
Like many Disney eras, the “robot revolution” feels crammed into the point of bursting. On the one hand, nothing is welcome. Meanwhile, the show feels like it’s fast forwarding the film’s worthy plot and burning. Given how rushed everything is, it’s hard to get a concrete sense of the stake, and there are many narratives rather than showing it. The planet is said to be under the brutal thumb of an evil overlord, which unfolds a small red ship firing into a digitally matte painting building. It’s said that Alan is a creep, but we don’t really get that feeling rear He was revealed as a villain. It is said that the doctor is run on instructions from his own future person, but I think it would be good if some of this was portrayed.
Davis was extremely important for his resurrection. Doctor Who And then built a cultural juggernaut, which became under his leadership. His role in the show’s history is safe, but even so, his Disney-era series appears to fall into the work of his own successor, Stephen Moffatt. “The Robot Revolution” features a range of mundane trinkets, divided stories and MacGuffin that lies bent over time in shenanigans. While Moffat doesn’t own these ideas, you can feel Davis trying to bend his less formal and more character-driven style into something else. The cynician might suggest that Davis is responding to the slightest response of not having a single credited episode Doctor Who Magazine’s In the latest polls in the series, Moffat has five.
In fact, you wouldn’t be surprised if the slightly desperate, gaping nature of this script is a deliberate ploy to build a framework for the rest of the season. However, even so, there is some tension in storytelling models that don’t work well.
If the script is the weakest part of the episode, the production design should have the crown strongest. The retro-fuchilistic robot calls for reminders of a bright red Ford Thunderbird or Chevrolet Bel Air while the cleaning robot is clearly stylised in the VW Beetle. That’s what I hope today’s Robovac maker emulates.
Behind the scenes
Doctor Who It is a regular source of gossip, especially given the permanently tenuous nature of the role of the stars. It’s easy to say Reid is about to quit, considering they left after three or four years anyway. There have been some recent reports suggesting that Ncuti Gatwa has already left the show or is approaching. Many of them also suggest that the BBC and Disney are refusing to greenlight until they see how successful this season is. moreover, The BBC says cuts in funding and inflation have led to a decrease in budgets by £1 billion (approximately $1.3 billion) since 2010.. When asked directly about the future of the series, it doesn’t help (in an interview with the BBC youth-oriented news show) News RoundRussell T. Davis chose to blurt out the show in a way that suggests it was about to return to the ice.
I’ll mention this because of the sequence where Belinda beats Alan with a certificate and the doctor pulls her out. He says that when she touched the paper together, she needed time to absorb the time she expelled the enormous amount of energy. The doctor then clenched his back as if he was in a lot of pain, but shrugged it and was fine for the rest of the episode. However, fans with long memories know that absorbing a lot of energy from the vortex was the killing of Christopher Ecclestone’s doctor in 2005.
Mrs. Flood Corner
Mrs. Flood appears to enjoy moving next to someone who is being caught up in this year’s companion. While being accused, she calls her neighbor, calls the police and tells her parents that she loves them. When the rocket goes up, she tells the audience that we haven’t seen her, and returns indoors to avoid encountering the doctor they are pursuing.
