Federal officials say refrigerated dips are being recalled by manufacturers because of the potential for mold growth.
Luns & Bayeris announced the recall, which was published by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), on Friday. This recall is related to the company’s Lone Star Dip.
Approximately 500 containers are being recalled due to “potential contamination due to mold growth,” according to an FDA press release.
The Minnesota-based company is specifically recalling Lone Star Dip products sold in the Twin Cities and surrounding areas.
An airline passenger reportedly fell ill after eating an omelette containing cockroaches.
The product is 12 oz. Available in sizes and UPCs are 18169-74197. The expiration date for these products is also October 15th or 17th.
“There have been no reported illnesses associated with this recall to date,” the announcement said.
“Concerns with this product were first noticed by a store employee and the company’s quality assurance team was notified.”

Customers with recalled products are asked to either destroy the product or return it for a refund.
“If customers have recently purchased an affected product, we recommend that they return it to Lunds & Byerlys for a full refund (receipt not required) or immediately destroy the product,” the company said. said.

According to L&B’s website, Lone Star Dip is made with cream cheese, salsa, tarragon, and fresh lemon juice.
“Perfect with your favorite sandwiches, wraps, and Lunds & Byerlys tortilla chips,” the website says.
