The Steelers of the Colorado Showcase
The Pittsburgh Steelers had light attendees at the Colorado Showcase, featuring QB Chedure Sanders and WR Travis Hunter on Friday’s “Colorado Showcase.” Holding picks No. 2 and No. 3, the Cleveland Browns and New York Giants each expressed about 12 members a lot, while Pittsburgh may have sent just one.
Senior scouting assistant Kelvin Fisher was in Boulder to watch his training.
Obviously, the Steelers have not put in place a contingency plan to land Sanders in a draft day tumble. Still, Sanders’ draft slots are hard to predict, especially if they pass the Giants at No. 3.
Pittsburgh trades down… twice
In Sirius Radio’s latest mock draft, the Pittsburgh Steelers have made even more tradedowns in Round 1 this year than in the last 20 years. The Steelers traded down from No. 31 again to No. 35, moving from the first round on this mock. They left night 1 without players, but instead, no. 35, No. 66, and No. 103 selections restocked draft cupboards after the DK Metcalf trade.
Instead, the Kansas City chief chose Texas Kelvin Banks Jr. at No. 21, and the Tennessee Titan jumped back to Landore Miss QB Jackson Dart.
Pittsburgh last traded down in the first round of 2001, moving three spots from 16 to 19, along with Texas NT Casey Hampton.
Julio Jones is retiring
Star receiver Julio Jones officially announced his retirement on Friday. After a 13-year career worthy of a Hall of Fame, Jones has officially cut the cleats after not making a regular season game in 2024.
Jones, the Atlanta Falcon’s first pick in the 2011 draft, created seven Pro Bowls and two All-Pro teams. He went over the 1,300-yard mark in the six straight season from 2014 to 2019, leading the NFL twice by receiving yards over that span.
He also spent time with the Tennessee Titans and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
