10 greatest stealers

Fox Sports has compiled a list of the top 10 players in Pittsburgh Steelers history. Topping the chart was, unsurprisingly, DT Joe Greene. The two quarterback spots were taken by Terry Bradshaw at No. 2 and Ben Roethlisberger at No. 3. LB Jack Ham and S Troy Polamalu round out the rest of the top five.

Notable players who didn’t make the list include all of the series’ top receivers, including Lynn Swann, John Stallworth, and Hines Ward. EDGE’s James Harrison and TJ Watt also missed out on the list, and S. Donnie Shell also missed out. Overall, it’s a solid list.

Steelers add WR to new mock draft

Pro Football Network’s Dalton Miller projects Pittsburgh to add a top-tier wide receiver to the Steelers in his latest mock draft. Texas WR Isaiah Bond selected Ranked 25th overall.

“Bonds has the potential to be a special player at the NFL level because few players have had the combination of explosiveness, fluidity and natural route-running ability that Bonds has over the years.”

Miller, a transfer from Alabama, said an ankle injury and poor chemistry with QB Quinn Ewers put a damper on Bonds’ success. He caught just 33 passes for 532 yards and five touchdowns as his Longhorns prepare for the College Football Playoff.

If Bonds gets the pick, he will be the Steelers’ first first-round receiver since Santonio Holmes in 2006.

In memory of Greg Gumbel

There was some sad news yesterday. Longtime commentator Greg Gumbel has died at the age of 78 after a battle with cancer. Gumbel, who is talented in covering a variety of sports, served as a play-by-play man for CBS in the 2000s, 2010s, and early 2020s.

One of Gumbel’s most memorable calls with the Steelers came in a 2010 divisional game against the Baltimore Ravens. With the game tied with two minutes remaining, rookie Antonio Brown made a clutch helmet catch along the right sideline. A 58-yard catch on third-and-19 put the ball on the Ravens’ 4-yard line, where running back Rashard Mendenhall scored the winning touchdown.
