Colorado coach Deion Sanders is not trying to lead Shedur Sanders to a specific destination in next month’s draft, and says he’ll be happy if the star quarterback son is selected.
“Chedur told me, he spoke to me enthusiastically about all the visits he had with all the teams, so I know where his mind is, I know where he wants to go.” He said in an interview with “The Skip Bayless Show.” In a video posted Wednesday. “In New York, it’s New York, if it’s Tennessee, if it’s Cleveland, if it’s still the Raiders, if it’s New Orleans, if it’s one of the teams that’s looking for a quarterback, I’ll satisfy it, because I know what he’s going to do with the organization.”
Deion Sanders’ comments on Bayless, in contrast to what he made last March, said on the Miller Dollaz of Game podcast, “It’s a specific city and it won’t happen. It’s going to be an ELI.”
“Eli” refers to two-time Super Bowl quarterback Eli Manning. He was selected in 2004 at the first overall pick by a charger. An hour later, San Diego trades Manning for the New York Giants, with the rest being history.
Bayless specifically asked if Sanders would attempt to “orchestrate” where Chedure Sanders was drafted.
“No, no, no,” he said. “Because it’s not God’s will now. I want Chedur to do what he has consistently done – Excel against all possibilities. I like hatred, I like to be negative, I like ignorance because we feel better about what we’re doing and give another tip to his shoulder.”
Shedeur Sanders is widely expected to be selected in the first round. ESPN draft analyst Matt Miller was selected as third overall by the Giants in the seven-round mock draft released Thursday.
